Senior Network Engineer

Position Summary: The candidate will be responsible for configuring, installing, and supporting an extensive array of network hardware and software infrastructure including switches, routers, bridges, gateways, and other devices in a multivendor environment and helping support a large geographically distributed Intranet as well as the largest privately owned, contiguous Wi-Fi network in the US. Incumbent must be innovative, talented, detail oriented, and a self-starter with a strong desire to succeed and learn. The candidate will work under the direction of the Network Security Architect as a part of a small team. 

Essential Duties: 

  • Identify, troubleshoot and resolve problems with network, internet, telecommunications equipment and other network technologies.
  • Analyze and provide network operation improvement recommendations to support a large, diverse, complex and distributed enterprise network infrastructure.
  • Work on multiple projects and work streams concurrently, setting realistic expectations with regard to work delivery.
  • Assist with the evaluation, selection, deployment and use of monitoring tools for data and voice networks both wired and wireless.
  • Support network engineering services, including understanding and following design criteria to implement successful new networking environments.
  • Audit and maintain security levels consistent with the security policies. This may include developing and implementing policies, performing intrusion testing, identifying and correcting security vulnerabilities and implement security related software.
  • Prepare technical design and implementation documentation as necessary.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

    Experience Required:
  • Minimum of 6 year’s professional work experience in an enterprise environment that operates 7x24 services managing networks in a production system where change control, stability, and customer service are key drivers of success
  • Minimum of 3 year’s working with the following technologies: VOIP, MPLS, MP-BGP, OSPF.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Aruba and Cisco network device configuration and upgrade procedures.
  • Advanced Switch and Router configuration and troubleshooting skills – Multi-vendor experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with security solutions (VPN, Firewalls, ISE, Clear Pass, IPS/IDS, TACACS, Radius preferred).
  • Experience in a multivendor environment (i.e. Aruba, Cisco, Darktrace, Crowdstrike, Palo Alto, etc…).
  • Experience with complex wireless environments.
  • Experience with multi-layer switches.
  • Solid understanding of the following aspects of networking and the support of IP networks to include: OSI model, STP, VLAN, DTP, Wireless 802.11 protocols
  • Routing Protocols to include: OSPF, EIGRP, PIM.
  • Additional protocols and services to include: LACP, VPC, VRRP, HSRP, GLBP, MPLS, VPLS, EoIP and BGP.

Preferred Platform Experience: 

Configuration and installation of Aruba and Cisco system routers, switches, wireless and services.
Configuration and support of CUCM and CSACS, MikroTik, Ubiquiti, AAA, TACACS.


Certifications: 

Required: Active and Current CCNA.
Preferred: CCNP, CCNA-Voice, MTCNA, MTCWE, MTCRE.


Qualifications:

  • Must be able to take the initiative and creatively troubleshoot and solve technical problems to resolution.
  • Must be able work independently and deliver quality results with limited supervision.
  • Must possess the ability to express and understand complex technical concepts.
  • Must be a skilled and innovative problem solver with a diligent work ethic.
  • Must be able to work in a mission critical production environment and participate in on-call support and off-hours network administration and problem resolution. Must be able to work occasional nights/weekends if needed.
  • Must possess excellent verbal and written and interpersonal communication skills. Must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels of the company as well as vendors, contractors, and the general public.

Working Conditions: 

  • This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. as well as on-call support/off-hours with occasional evening and weekend work required as job duties demand; overtime applicable. Employee must live within 60 miles driving distance from our corporate headquarters in Clewiston, Florida.
  • This job operates in a large industrial environment as well as outside in various weather conditions on a regular basis. Outside working conditions may be rainy, hot, humid, dusty, windy, etc. depending on the weather as well as the work location. Some work locations will be isolated which requires the employee to work independently and safely with minimum to no supervision. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. The employee must adhere to all safety rules and regulations at all times.
  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally scale multiple flights of stairs carrying equipment in excess of 20 pounds. Employee should be comfortable working at heights in excess of 50 feet.
    Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel could be expected.
