A specialist SAP consultancy based in Germany, with a primary focus on data migration projects, faced unique recruitment challenges. Despite offering attractive packages, the organization encountered difficulties in filling positions due to a combination of a previous hiring freeze and a need for niche, specific skill sets. ↴


Project Scope

The client required skilled SAP consultants specializing in Logistics, Finance, or Transformation as well as Data Migration experience.

The ideal candidates needed to have 2-7 years of experience, proficiency in B2 German, and a readiness and aptitude to be able to work with a bespoke data migration solution.

The challenges included:

  • Scarce availability of candidates with the required skill set.
  • Competitive landscape with other companies moving faster in the recruitment process.
  • A previous hiring freeze in the market, with no talent pipeline and a need to balance growth with limited resources.
  • Candidates rejecting offers despite attractive packages.

The Solution

Uniting Enterprise implemented a tailored solution:


Niche Talent Pools

Leveraging Uniting Enterprise immediate network capabilities, the recruitment team tapped into niche talent pools specializing in SAP, specifically targeting candidates with expertise in data migration within the German market. This ensured the hiring campaign could get off to a quick start.


Warm Conversations with Network

Building relationships and engaging in warm conversations with potential candidates ensured a positive rapport and allowed the team to ask for referrals.


Headhunting

Traditional headhunting techniques included mapping the market for key skills, B2 proficiency and expertise within Finance, Logistics or Transformation. This opened up a selection of passive candidates who were not currently looking for a job but were excited to understand more about Uniting Enterprise’s bespoke data migration solution and their exciting projects.


Two-Stage Interview Process

The recruitment process involved a two-stage interview approach as recommended by Uniting Enterprise to ensure speed and efficiency in order to beat competition. The initial phone call served as a screening, followed by a second on-site meeting with the team and the CEO. This process allowed for a thorough evaluation of both technical skills and cultural fit.


Strategic Interviews at Trade Fairs

The interviewing team utilised industry events, such as the Transformation World trade fair, to meet potential candidates in person. This approach provided a casual setting for candidates to learn about the company culture and solution, fostering a deeper connection with the business and understanding how the candidate would present themselves in a true to life work environment.

The team successfully shortlisted 19 candidates matching the client's requirements.


Interviews Conducted

Seven candidates were interviewed through the two-stage process.


Final Selection

Four candidates reached the final stages of the interview process.
